FDNY firefighters went to work on a 6 Alarm Fire in the Bay Side Section of Queens, NY. Early reports state, “We have fire on the top floor and into the Cockloft
of a 7 Story Brick 160 x 60 O.M.D.”.

A massive fire ripped through several apartments of a Queens building today, injuring 23 firefighters who struggled to control the blaze in the middle of an oppressive heat wave.

The five-alarm fire began around 10:20 a.m. toward the top of the seven-story structure, spread to the roof and was under control two hours later, fire officials said.

It is not yet known what sparked the blaze, which is under investigation, officials said.

FDNY firefighters went to work on a 3rd Alarm fire in the Astoria Section of Queens, NY. The fire took place on Astoria Blvd. and 23 Avenue. Early reports state, “Using All – Hands for a fire on the 2nd floor of a 2 Story
Frame private dwelling”. Shortly after a 2nd Alarm was transmitted, “Batt. 49 to Queens, We have fire extending into the Cockloft, Transmit a 2nd Alarm”.
