FDNY firefighters went to work on a 6 Alarm Fire in the Bay Side Section of Queens, NY. Early reports state, “We have fire on the top floor and into the Cockloft
of a 7 Story Brick 160 x 60 O.M.D.”.
A massive fire ripped through several apartments of a Queens building today, injuring 23 firefighters who struggled to control the blaze in the middle of an oppressive heat wave.
The five-alarm fire began around 10:20 a.m. toward the top of the seven-story structure, spread to the roof and was under control two hours later, fire officials said.
It is not yet known what sparked the blaze, which is under investigation, officials said.
