Two Rigs Collide in Brooklyn

There was a serious accident involving FDNY fire trucks in Brooklyn on Saturday morning.

It happened at Ashford Street and Hegeman Avenue at about 9:30 a.m.

Engine 236 and Ladder 107 slammed into each other as they were responding to an emergency.

Ladder 107 turned on to its side end landed on a parked minivan.  Engine 236 ended up in a yard.

The New York Post reported that 12 firemen were injured and taken to hospitals.  Two of the firefighters were trapped in the cab after the accident and had to be cut out.

Michael Dick, a professional photographer, dedicated seven years to fire photography in preparation for the book “New York’s Bravest – Their Lives on the Line” published in 1987. During this time he concentrated his efforts on Harlem and the South Bronx and created approximately five thousand color slides. In this book all the photographs were taken by Michael Dick and the text was written by Lt. Thomas Barry, L-42 (Ret.);
many of these photos were reproduced in black & white, this is the first time they are being shown in color.

3 Alarm Throgs Neck Bridge Fire
